Short description: INNER STATE is an audiovisual installation that translates physiological body signals into real-time sound and visuals.

Project description:

INNER STATE is an interdisciplinary project at the intersection of media art, technology, and body awareness. Physiological signals such as muscle activity or heart rate are translated into audiovisual experiences in real time using biophysiological sensors. The result is an immersive installation in which inner, mostly unconscious bodily states can be experienced as sound, light, and movement. The aim is to establish a direct connection between humans and technology and to visualize how bodily signals directly influence visual and auditory processes. Data is collected using the BITalino (r)evolution Plugged Kit, initially recorded and tested in OpenSignals. The data is transferred to Max/MSP via OSC, where it is converted into usable values. It then controls organic visual forms in TouchDesigner and modulates the soundscape in Ableton Live, so that images and sounds react dynamically to the participants' body data.
