Short description: The aim of the project is to create a simulation that visualizes the traffic situation after the opening of a McDonald's.

Project description:

A traffic impact assessment was prepared for 2026 for the planned construction of the new McDonald's restaurant in Waidhofen an der Ybbs, located east of the Patertal municipal road, northwest of Expert Oberklammer, and southwest of the B121 Wiener Straße. The technical report contains traffic data, records, and forecasts related to the aforementioned construction project. Residents anticipate that the McDonald's will lead to increased waiting times and traffic congestion for those arriving at and departing from Patertal. A 2D simulation is to be created to illustrate the traffic volume in the area where McDonald's plans to open. The data from the traffic impact assessment will serve as the basis for the simulation. This data is confidential and must be treated as such. The simulation model will be created in AnyLogic by a team working with Christian Fally. A parallel version will be developed in SUMO by another student team to compare the results and handling of the simulation tools.
